KinChip Systems Pty Ltd – Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy forms part of the KinChip Systems Pty Ltd (KinChip) Privacy Policy. It explains what cookies are, what cookies are used for, and how you can control their use.

What is a cookie?

We use the word “cookies” to include a piece of text, pixels, clear GIFs, log files, web beacons or other tracing or tracking files or similar technology that are placed on your device. Some cookies are stored temporarily (session cookies) and others are placed on your computer’s hard drive or mobile device (persistent cookies).

Depending on the settings you have selected, your browser adds the text to your device using a small text file. You can change the browser settings to reject cookies. Many browsers are set to accept cookies by default because cookies make it easier for you to view certain content. If you choose to disable cookies at the browser level, you may find our website and our Kindom™ application (Services) do not work in the same way, or may prevent you from using certain parts.

Why do we use cookies?

The general purpose of a cookie is to allow a web server to identify a user’s computer or device and web browser, and tailor web pages and/or login information to the user’s preferences. We use cookies to let us know when you visit our Services, how you interact with us, to enrich your user experience, customise your relationship with KinChip, including providing you with more relevant advertising and how you prefer to view content.

By gathering and remembering information about your website and application preferences through cookies we can provide a better experience. Cookies don’t give us access to users’ computers or devices, and the information we collect through cookies doesn’t include personal information.

However, we may combine and link the non-personal information we receive from cookies with the personal information you have provided to us so that we can improve our Services, content and advertising. Where we combine your personal Information with non-personal information, the combined data will be used in accordance with the Privacy Act (Cth) 1988 and our Privacy Policy

Types of cookies used

When you visit our Services, we use “session cookies” to allow us to uniquely identify your browser while you are logged in, provide a more relevant experience and to process your online transactions. These are temporary cookie files, which are erased when you close your browser.

We also use “persistent cookies” that only we can read and use, to identify you as a user of our Services and make it easier for you to log into our Services. These files remain on your hard drive until you erase them or they expire.

Essential cookies

Some of the cookies we use are critical to the functionality of our Services. They are used to keep a user logged into the Services and remember relevant information when the user returns to Services.

Functional cookies

We also use certain cookies to track users’ activities on our Services, understand their preferences and improve their experience of our Services.

Third party cookies

We allow carefully selected third parties to place cookies via our website. These cookies may be placed within the advertisement and elsewhere on our site. We do not have access to or control over these cookies.

They are used for statistical analysis by allowing the advertiser to count how many people have seen their advertisement or have seen it more than once. They might also allow the advertiser to tailor advertising to you when you visit other websites.

How do I choose whether to receive cookies or not?

Your web browser settings should allow you to delete and/or disable cookies. You may change your browser settings to notify you each time a website wants to place a cookie on your device. This lets you choose whether to accept or decline cookies from that website. Each browser will have its own way of giving you this option (for example, depending on whether you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome or other browser), so please consult your browser’s “help” menu for further details.

If you choose to disable cookies, you may find the Services do not work in the same way. You may find that disabling or rejecting cookies may prevent you from using certain parts of the Services.

Other local storage

We, along with certain third parties, may use other kinds of local storage technologies, such as Local Shared Objects (also referred to as “Flash cookies”) and HTML5 local storage, in connection with our Services. These technologies are similar to the cookies discussed above in that they are stored on your device and can be used to store certain information about your activities and preferences. However, these technologies may make use of different parts of your device from standard cookies, and so you might not be able to control them using standard browser tools and settings. For information about disabling or deleting information contained in Flash cookies, please click here.

Google Analytics

Our website uses Google Analytics, a service which transmits website traffic data to Google servers in the United States. Google Analytics does not identify individual users or associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. We use reports provided by Google Analytics to help us understand website traffic and webpage usage.

By using this website, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner described in Google’s Privacy Policy and for the purposes set out above. You can opt out of Google Analytics if you disable or refuse the cookie, disable JavaScript, or use the opt-out service provided by Google.

Web Beacons

A web beacon is an electronic image that can be used to recognise a cookie on your device when you view a web page or email. Unlike cookies, which are stored on a user’s computer hard drive or device, web beacons are embedded invisibly on web pages and applications.

We may combine the information gathered by web beacons to our users’ personal information, and use them in our HTML-based emails to learn which emails have been opened by recipients

We may use web beacons on our Services, in our communications, in our advertisements on other websites, or in our advertisements in others’ marketing. Similarly, third parties whose content or ads appear on our Services may also place web beacons in their ads or communications to measure how effective they are.

Web beacons help us measure the effectiveness of our Services and our advertising. For example, web beacons may count the number of visitors to our website from a particular advertisement, or visitors who make a purchase from our website after viewing a particular communication. They may tell us when a web page is viewed and provide a description of the page where the web beacon is placed. Web beacons may measure the effectiveness of our communications, by counting the number of individuals who open or act upon a message. The web beacon will capture information about when a message is opened and how many times a message is forwarded.

Unlike cookies, you cannot decline web beacons. However, setting your browser to decline cookies will prevent web beacons from tracking your activity.

Third Party Sites

Our website may contain links to other websites. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. When you go to other websites from here, we advise you to be aware and read their privacy policy.

We occasionally update our Cookie Policy. We encourage you to periodically review this statement to remain informed of how KinChip uses cookies.
